Now collecting! Sainsburys and Tescos vouchers

We are now registered for both Tesco and Sainsburys tokens for school.

Please help us to collect the vouchers so that we can enhance our sporting & ICT facilities at Castleton. If you can ask your family and friends to collect them too, that would be great!

Simply send them in with your children to their class teacher.

Thank you!

Stressed out? Calling all parents and carers!

Come along and meet our local health trainer, John, who will show us how to reduce stress through healthy living, relaxation and massage.

When: Wednesday 14th March
Where: Castleton's Community Room
Time: 1.30 to 3pm

Book your place now with the letter that is coming home. It promises to be lots of fun as well as useful!

Hustlers Raise Money for Lineham Farm

Mr Jones's Basketball Team, The Horsforth Hustlers, travelled to Lincoln at the weekend to play in a charity basketball match. Mr Darnell made a guest appearance for the Hustlers, but due to his lack of fitness only mangage 3 minutes on court. Unfortunately, the Hustlers lost the match 52-67 but we hope to have raised lots of money for Lineham Farm.

Football News

A new look Castleton football team, with lots of players making their debuts and with a new captain, Liridon, got off to a flying start at the School Sports Partnership Football Tournament on Thursday with an amazing 3-1 victory over Whingate. The next game was against St Barts which finished 1-1.

The last game was the tournament decider between Castleton and 5 Lanes who were both on 5 points. With only 2 minutes to go James crossed the ball into the box for Brandon to tap home the winning goal, which meant Castleton topped the league with 8 points, 5 Lanes and St Barts came joint 2nd with 6 points each and Whingate 3rd with 4 points.

Well done everybody who took part.

Castleton wows Chris

Chris Edwards, Chief Executive of Education Leeds visited our school yesterday. He wrote this blog about us:

"We are lucky here in Leeds to have some outstanding schools... and I am incredibly lucky because I am able to visit so many of them.

My visit today to Castleton Primary School was brilliant... it really lifted my spirits. Castleton Primary School is a fantastic place... the biggest breakfast club I have ever seen and an incredibly talented team of colleagues releasing a very special kind of Castleton magic.

The school certainly has the WOW factor!
Thank you."

Wishing you a happy & safe holiday

We've had a great time this week with our Road Safety visitors. There have been lots of fun activities which have helped the children learn some serious messages. These include:

  • how to cross the road safely
  • knowing the Green Cross Code
  • using a booster seat
So... enjoy the snow during holidays but please stay safe both near the road and in your cars.
